The mark
A doorway, a horizon, two leaves and a bud.
Three ideas in one drawing. Each is true of this coast and of what we do on it.
The doorway
The arch of the south coast, from the Dutch houses of Galle Fort to the verandahs of the plantation hills. It is the shape every stay here begins with, and the shape photographs take across this site.
The horizon
The same arch is the sun lifting off the Indian Ocean. The line beneath it is the coast, and the short stroke under that is light on the water.
Two leaves and a bud
What a tea plucker takes from the bush, and nothing else. It is the one thing on this island that has always been picked by hand, which is the whole of our name.
Three forms
Primary. The mark above the name. Use it wherever there is room: letterheads, vouchers, the foot of the site.
Horizontal. The mark beside the name, for narrow places such as email signatures and document headers.
Mark alone. For small and square places: the browser tab, social avatars, a wax seal, an embroidered towel.

The name is set in Cormorant Garamond Medium, widely spaced capitals. In the files the letters are outlines, so they look the same on every machine.
